Innovate is an after school program for CREATIVITY and INNOVATION. We facilitate a learning space for students to create and innovate through ideas that matter. Activities are project-based and place-based, developing cross-curriculum skills in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and other subjects.
WHO ARE INNOVATE STUDENTS?
INNOVATE students dream up creative, practical solutions and work with other innovative peers to invent, design, and build things that matter.
WHAT WILL INNOVATE STUDENTS DO?
Think creatively, collaborate, solve problems and design things that matter, and change the world!
We provide an after school program for early adolescents with the purpose of providing the newest and most advanced technology available for the students to explore and build their expertise in critical thinking and problem solving. Innovate will bring resources that will make creativity and innovation possible. We work with qualified teachers to address Common Core Standards and 21st Century Skills that develop and increase academic and cognitive skills!
Our program’s philosophy is based on ideas from Tony Wagner’s book, Creating Innovators. Wagner is an Innovation Education Fellow at the Technology & Entrepreneurship Center at Harvard University. Previously, he was the founder and co-director of the Change Leadership Group at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for more than a decade. He has worked as a high school teacher, K-8 principal, university professor in teacher education, and founding executive director of Educators for Social Responsibility.
